State Fund Agriculture will support more than 12 000 farmers breeding cows; more than 14 000 owners of goats and sheep, as well as 239 farmers raising buffaloes, will receive financial aid under the coupled support schemes.

Over 6000 farmers applied for the first two measures of the new RDP. There were over 2600 candidates for Sub-measure 6.1 Starting Support for Young Farmers, also known as “Young Farmer”. For Sub-measure 4.1. „Investments in farms” applied 3500 applicants.

State Fund Agriculture paid approximately BGN 703 thousand to 66 producers, affected by the prohibition agricultural products import from the European Union into Russia. The funds are provided by European Fund for the guarantee of agriculture and are being paid under two extra schemes, introduced by the European Commission at the end of last year.

The European Commission (EC) conclusively approved the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme. The total budget of the programme is 2.9 billion euros, 2.3 billion of which come from European funds. The support for the agricultural business in Bulgaria during the new programme period will be almost 1.111 billion euros.

A total of 112 thousand farmers have applied for funding in the 2015 Campaign, until May 29th, when was the end date of the extended period for submitting applications without penalties.
