Nearly BGN 2 million were paid to farmers for crop completely damaged by hail in the Plovdiv region
The State Fund Agriculture transferred nearly BGN 2 million. (BGN 1,972,792.79) under the state aid "Aid to compensate for damage to crops caused by adverse climatic events that can be equated to natural disasters", which occurred in 2021.
The amount was paid to 85 farmers with 100% damaged areas with agricultural crops, due to hail that fell at the end of August in Plovdiv region. The maximum financial resource eligible for support is up to 80% of the production costs for growing the affected crops. In the cases where the people affected by hails do not have insurance, the amount is reduced to 50%, according to the European Union guidelines on state aid in the agricultural and forestry sectors and in rural areas for the period 2014-2020 (extended until end of 2022).
